Smart contact lenses with augmented reality (AR)

A California-based company conducted its first human trial using smart contact lenses with augmented reality (AR).

The lenses with a diameter of not more than 0.5mm can project bright text, rich graphics, and video content.  It consists of eye movement tracking tools that ensure the imagery displayed holds still while your eye moves.  Its intuitive interface allows users to interact with its content without making gestures or using a smartphone.  The device also has built-in rechargeable micro batteries that keep it running through the day.

The smart device may take years to launch, needing several clinical studies to ensure its safety.  When commercially available, it can be an invisible assistant to users giving them access to information they need in any situation.

Will we finally say goodbye to AR headsets anytime soon?  Let us know what you think of this innovation.
